Seelie Squire's Book of Creatures
Kobolds are a race of small, dragon-esque humanoids that live in underground communities. They form large pack-like clans, relying on one another to survive in the hot, dark caverns they inhabit. Kobolds are servile by nature; dragons and other intelligent beasts have used this fact to create clans of loyal servants.
For a communal species, kobold physiology is surprisingly varied. While most kobolds have red scales, it is not unheard of for a kobold to possess scales of any one of the colors you’d expect a dragon could have. Some kobolds have wings while others, even within clans, are entirely flightless. These biological differences are the cause for many conflicts within and betwixt clans, even standing as the basis for a variety of caste systems which exist among kobold cultures.
